Staff Engineer, Mechanical Simulation

Samsung Semiconductor is seeking a Staff Engineer specializing in Mechanical Simulation to join our team in San Jose, California. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional, multicultural teams to develop and evaluate next-generation semiconductor packages and memory devices. Your expertise will drive innovative packaging solutions and bridge the gap between numerical predictions and experimental validation.

As a Staff Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include performing advanced numerical modeling and simulation to assess and enhance the performance and reliability of cutting-edge semiconductor packages. You will provide mechanical and thermal design support throughout various stages of package and system development, from conceptualization and detailed modeling to qualification and reliability testing. Additionally, you will develop and maintain scripts for process automation to streamline simulation workflows for parametric and sensitivity studies.

The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field, with at least 10 years of hands-on modeling and simulation experience in the high-tech or semiconductor industry. Proficiency with leading simulation tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, and HyperMesh, as well as thermal-analysis platforms like Flotherm and Icepak, is essential. A deep understanding of advanced semiconductor packaging, interconnect structures, and reliability-modeling techniques is also required.

This position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $163,000 to $253,000, depending on location and experience. In addition to the base salary, we provide incentive opportunities based on individual and company performance.
