Skylo Technologies is seeking a Staff Network Design Engineer to join our team in Mountain View, California. This role is pivotal in designing and optimizing both on-premises and cloud-based networking infrastructures for our commercial network, ensuring seamless integration between business requirements and technological solutions. The position requires onsite presence 2-3 days per week.

The Staff Network Design Engineer will be responsible for specifying and designing network infrastructures, including routers, switches, and firewalls. Key tasks include developing technical specifications for IP addressing, subnets, VLANs, and implementing networking redundancies using protocols such as VRRP, BGP, and OSPF. The role also involves designing virtual networking solutions across on-premises and public cloud environments (AWS, GCP), optimizing Kubernetes Container Network Interfaces (CNI) like Calico, Cilium, or Flannel, and developing robust routing policies. Additionally, the engineer will monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to ensure high availability and scalability.

Candidates should have over 10 years of experience in both cellular and non-cellular telecom domains. Essential skills include hands-on experience with TCP/IP, network routing and redundancy, network tunneling protocols, and network connection aggregation technologies such as LAG and LACP. Proficiency in configuring and optimizing network hardware, including switches, routers, firewalls, and LAN/WAN systems, is required. Experience with public cloud networking (AWS VPCs, Azure VNets, GCP networking) and virtual networking in cloud and virtualization platforms (VMware NSX, Hyper-V) is also necessary. Familiarity with network monitoring and automation tools like NetBox, Ansible, and Terraform, along with strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, are essential. Industry certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS, or equivalent are preferred.

Skylo offers competitive compensation packages, including a stock option-based equity program, comprehensive benefits covering medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans, as well as monthly allowances for wellness and education reimbursement. Employees enjoy a generous time-off policy, holidays, and the opportunity to temporarily work abroad. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and operation of the world's first commercial, live direct-to-device satellite network and service, alongside access to a world-class team across various tech domains.

At Skylo, we foster an open, transparent, and inclusive culture that blends characteristics from Silicon Valley, Nordic, and South Asian regions. We are committed to building an inclusive and diverse workforce, encouraging a flexible approach to work, and providing opportunities for professional growth and development.
