Staff Engineer, SRAM Layout
Samsung Semiconductor is seeking a dedicated and experienced Staff Engineer specializing in SRAM Layout to join our team in San Jose, California. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development of next-generation SRAM solutions, contributing to the advancement of technologies that power devices such as smartphones, electric vehicles, and data centers. As part of a global leader in semiconductor innovation, you will have the opportunity to push the boundaries of what's possible and influence the future of technology.
Your primary responsibilities will include leading the development and execution of full-custom SRAM memory layouts and sign-off verification flows, including compiler automation where applicable. You will collaborate closely with circuit designers to translate schematics into efficient, high-performance physical layouts, overseeing floor planning, placement, routing, and tape-out processes. Additionally, you will design and optimize SRAM layouts at the cell, array, and peripheral levels to enhance area efficiency, speed, power consumption, yield, and manufacturability.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree with over 10 years of experience in custom SRAM, memory compiler, and IC physical layout design, or a master's degree with over 8 years of experience. A minimum of 3 years in a leadership or management role is preferred. Extensive experience in SRAM layout design in advanced process nodes (e.g., 3nm, 2nm, or below) is essential. Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools, such as Cadence Virtuoso for custom/analog layout and physical verification tools for DRC/LVS/ERC flows, is required. Strong project management skills and the ability to lead, mentor, and manage a team of layout engineers are also crucial.
