Staff Engineer, Test Development
The Staff Engineer, Test Development position at Samsung Semiconductor involves developing black-box functional test coverage and methodologies for NVMe SSDs. The role is part of the Technology Enabling Development Lab (TED), focusing on the host interface firmware layer that intersects system software and flash management firmware. This technology drives Samsung's V-NAND technology, enabling customers to power performance-oriented, demanding, enterprise-class applications.
Key responsibilities include debugging and triaging failures, collaborating with the firmware team to reproduce problems, designing and running experiments, analyzing customer field issues, and improving functional test coverage where gaps are identified. The engineer will also provide guidance to the automation team and assist with test coverage integration into the existing framework. The role requires working with local US and international customers and OEMs.
Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience or a Master's degree with 8+ years in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. Strong programming experience in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and Linux shell scripts is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work individually and in teams, and prior knowledge of NVMe, PCIe, or related storage technologies are required. Proficiency in Linux and experience with storage test tools are also necessary.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $157,000 to $243,000 per year, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
