Staff Manufacturing Engineer, Structures
Archer is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Engineer specializing in structures to join our Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) team. This role is pivotal in bridging aircraft design and production, focusing on scaling the production of our Midnight 1.0 aircraft and developing the next-generation Midnight 1.1 platform. The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader, driving manufacturing strategies for aircraft structures and supporting builds from prototype through early production ramp-up.
Key responsibilities include providing leadership and technical direction for structural assembly and integration processes, encompassing both prototype and production assembly sequencing. The role involves owning the end-to-end lifecycle of structural component builds, collaborating with design, quality, and certification teams to embed manufacturability, compliance, and risk mitigation from concept to flight test readiness. Additionally, the engineer will drive tooling strategies and fixture development for prototype builds, balancing the need for high precision with practical solutions suited to low-volume, rapidly evolving programs.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's or advanced degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience, along with over 10 years in aerospace manufacturing, focusing on assembly and integration. A proven track record of driving Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles for complex assemblies is essential. Expertise in advanced manufacturing tools such as CAD, PLM, and MES, as well as the ability to understand model-based definitions and interpret GD&T callouts, are required. Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills are necessary to set direction and mentor a diverse engineering team. The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, balancing big-picture program goals with hands-on, real-time build solutions, is also crucial.
Archer offers a competitive base salary ranging from $152,100 to $190,100, determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
