As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer on the Platform team at Motive, you will play a pivotal role in designing, scaling, and managing our expanding AWS-backed services that support millions of connected IoT devices, mobile applications, and SaaS users. Your expertise in cloud-native and highly elastic service design will ensure the seamless operation of our services, new products, and features, achieving Motive's stringent 99.99% availability service level objectives. By advancing our fully codified infrastructure and Kubernetes environment, and implementing thoughtful AWS components, you will significantly contribute to Motive's growth and success.

In this role, you will collaborate with engineering and product teams to design and build the infrastructure and services necessary to deliver new features in a cloud-native and event-driven manner. You will leverage and enhance our Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Configuration Management (CM) with Helm to facilitate advanced scaling and self-service capabilities for engineering teams. Identifying and eliminating bottlenecks in production systems across AWS services and our Kubernetes platform will be a key responsibility. Additionally, you will ensure 99.99% customer-facing uptime and continuously improve the monitoring and alerting capabilities of our platform to enable proactive operations.

The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps, with a proven track record of working on high-volume production systems. Demonstrable expertise in systems architecture, solving complex technical problems, and implementing company-wide solutions is essential. Advanced knowledge of AWS services and technologies, including ALB/ELB, IAM permissions, DynamoDB, SNS, EKS/Fargate, is required. Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools, particularly Terraform and Helm charts, is necessary. Proficiency in Python, Bash, or other scripting languages is expected, with knowledge of Ruby or Golang considered a plus. A high level of ownership and the drive to collaborate with others to implement improvements in production are crucial attributes.

Motive offers a comprehensive compensation package, with the salary range for this position depending on your location. For candidates residing in the United States, the compensation range is $164,000 to $226,000 USD. Benefits include health, pharmacy, optical, and dental care, paid time off, sick leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and 401(k) contributions, subject to eligibility requirements.
