Staff Software Engineer, Assets
Webflow is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Assets team, focusing on developing a next-generation, AI-native Digital Asset Manager (DAM). This role is integral to our mission of empowering users to design, launch, and optimize web experiences without barriers. As part of a dynamic and innovative team, you'll contribute to building a platform that enables customers to manage their digital assets at an enterprise scale while maintaining speed and brand consistency.
In this position, you will architect, design, and evolve backend systems, platform services, and APIs using Python and related technologies. Collaborating closely with data scientists and machine learning engineers, you'll integrate AI/ML capabilities into reliable backend infrastructure. Your responsibilities will also include designing and scaling distributed systems that process large volumes of data with strong performance, availability, and operational excellence. Additionally, you'll build secure, resilient data storage and retrieval systems, focusing on data integrity, privacy, and governance.
The ideal candidate brings over 7 years of software engineering experience, with deep expertise in backend engineering and distributed systems at scale. A strong technical foundation in software design and development is essential, with proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go. Experience in designing, building, and operating reliable distributed systems and data-intensive services in production is required. Familiarity with backend API design, service-oriented architecture, asynchronous processing, and data modeling is also important.
Webflow offers a competitive compensation package tailored to align with the cost of labor in different geographic markets. For this role, the base pay ranges from $186,700 to $255,000 in the United States, depending on the zone. In Canada, the range is CAD 232,000 to CAD 278,000. This position is also eligible to participate in Webflow's company-wide bonus program, with target amounts varying by career level and payouts based on company performance against established financial and operational goals.
