Staff Software Engineer - Data Sync Team (Golang, Python, AWS) - open to remote across ANZ
Canva is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join its Data Sync Team, a pivotal part of the Data Platform Group. This team is dedicated to building a world-class data platform that empowers Canvanauts with efficient and effective data capabilities. The role offers the flexibility to work remotely across Australia and New Zealand, aligning with Canva's commitment to adaptable work environments.
In this position, you will drive the technical strategy for data pipeline workflows, balancing short-term and long-term needs across multiple teams and domains. Your responsibilities include providing technical expertise to various teams, contributing to engineering standards and best practices, and leading improvements to code structure to reduce technical debt. Additionally, you will define and implement new tools, standards, and processes to enhance engineering effectiveness across the organization.
The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in Python or Go programming languages and a strong foundation in computer engineering principles, including concurrency, multithreading, data structures, architecture, and design patterns. Experience with AWS, and preferably GCP cloud environments, is essential. A background in platform engineering roles with demonstrated ability to work across multiple teams is highly valued. Proficiency with AI tooling for software engineering, such as Copilot or Claude Code, and exceptional communication skills to influence and build relationships across diverse stakeholders are also important.
