Staff Software Engineer

EarnIn is seeking an experienced and passionate Staff Software Engineer to join our Live Pay team in Vancouver, Canada. As a pioneer in earned wage access, EarnIn provides real-time financial flexibility to individuals living paycheck to paycheck. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of key platform services that directly impact our community members.

In this position, you will drive the design and implementation of new features, breaking down complex problems into elegant solutions and producing high-quality, clean code. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering large-scale systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring other engineers through code, design, and architecture reviews. Additionally, you will contribute to defining technical direction, planning the roadmap, and managing project timelines and risks.

The ideal candidate has over seven years of experience in backend software development, with proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Scala, or C#. A strong background in event-driven systems like Kafka, SQS, SNS, or Kinesis, and experience designing scalable distributed systems is essential. Hands-on experience with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure), various databases (DynamoDB, MySQL, ElasticSearch), and familiarity with AI-assisted development tools are also required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

EarnIn offers a competitive base salary range of $252,000 to $308,000 CAD for this full-time position, along with equity and comprehensive benefits. The role follows a hybrid work model, requiring two days a week in the Vancouver office.
