Staff Solutions Engineer
The Staff Solutions Engineer role at Block involves leading complex partner and merchant integrations, collaborating closely with Sales, Partnerships, and Product teams to understand customer needs and showcase Block's APIs and services. This position is integral to Block's mission of building the next generation of commerce experiences for merchants and payment service providers through Afterpay.
Key responsibilities include partnering with Sales and Account Management to support developers integrating with the platform, designing and delivering technical solutions such as proof-of-concepts and sample integrations, and acting as a trusted technical advisor by translating business requirements into scalable integration approaches. The role also involves collaborating with product and engineering teams to surface customer feedback and influence the product roadmap, as well as creating and delivering compelling demos and technical presentations to both executive and engineering stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience in technical customer-facing roles such as partner engineering, solutions architecture, or sales engineering, working with enterprise merchants or global partners. They should possess deep hands-on technical expertise, including proficiency in building with APIs and full-stack development, and have strong communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical audiences. Experience leading technical projects in globally distributed teams and a solid understanding of payments, fintech, or commerce platforms are also essential. A willingness to travel for onsite client meetings (10-20%) is required.
