Strategic Finance Lead, GTM
Block is seeking a finance executive to lead its Finance & Strategy Go-To-Market (GTM) organization, partnering with the GTM Lead and their executive team. Reporting to the Head of Strategic Finance, this leader will drive financial strategy, business modeling, and decision support, serving as a trusted advisor to GTM leadership. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence Block's growth by optimizing investment allocation and shaping the company's future strategy.
The Strategic Finance Lead will serve as the primary strategic finance partner to Block’s GTM leadership, building strong relationships and providing sophisticated analysis to drive informed decision-making. Responsibilities include driving Block’s investment strategy across GTM functions and channels, building frameworks to measure outputs and success, and assessing trade-offs across investment opportunities. The role also involves leading and executing financial, strategic, and planning processes supporting GTM activities, such as monthly and quarterly performance reviews, annual planning, and long-range planning activities. Additionally, the leader will develop strategies for pricing, customer acquisition incentives, revenue forecasting, headcount investment, custom pricing management, and sales incentives, while managing a high-performing strategic finance team.
Candidates should have over 15 years of relevant experience in strategic finance, with significant experience at an operating company supporting GTM functions. The ideal candidate will have served as a trusted advisor to senior executives, advising on company-level strategy initiatives and investment decisions that have enabled company-wide growth. Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering results on corporate-wide initiatives are essential. The ability to distill complex information into clear problem statements that can be systematically analyzed and communicated is crucial. Comfort working with metrics, building new KPIs, and navigating large data sets to find answers to complex problems, with a bias toward automation and AI tool adoption, is also required. A proven track record of successful partnership with sales, marketing, account management, and partnerships organizations, as well as experience managing and scaling finance organizations, including building and maintaining high-performing teams through hiring and coaching, is necessary.
