Structural Analysis Engineer II/Senior
Rocket Lab Corporation is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer II/Senior to join our team in Silver Spring, Maryland. This role involves analyzing aerospace structures and mechanisms to support product design, testing, and improvements. Our Silver Spring facility specializes in manufacturing satellite mechanisms, including separation systems, on-orbit devices, and other electro-mechanical deployables.
In this position, you will collaborate with design engineers to validate product designs through detailed structural analysis using tools such as finite element analysis (FEA). Responsibilities include creating test-correlated finite element models (FEMs) of aerospace mechanisms, developing product environmental test requirements tailored to industry standards, and making technical recommendations based on analysis results. Additionally, you will mentor and train other engineers, develop and validate product FEMs and their supporting documentation, and support anomaly and failure analysis of space vehicles and mechanisms.
The ideal candidate for the Structural Analysis Engineer II role will have a Bachelor of Science in a relevant engineering field, at least 2 years of finite element analysis experience, and experience analyzing metallic assemblies. For the Senior Structural Analysis Engineer I position, a Bachelor of Science in a relevant engineering field, over 5 years of finite element analysis experience—including static, dynamic, and non-linear analysis—and proficiency in analyzing complex assemblies are required. Strong familiarity with aerospace industry structural analysis standards and demonstrated ability to mentor other engineers are also essential.
