Applied Intuition is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join our Vehicle OS team in Sunnyvale, California. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and managing functional safety requirements for our innovative automotive products. Applied Intuition is a leader in vehicle intelligence, providing cutting-edge solutions to accelerate the adoption of safe, AI-driven machines across various industries.

As a System Safety Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include establishing and implementing ISO 26262 compliant development processes, creating safety manuals, templates, and internal procedural guidelines. You will lead end-to-end functional safety activities from item definition through safety validation for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous features. Additionally, you will architect robust fault detection, mitigation, and safe-state transitions, and develop system-level test cases for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and on-vehicle validation.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline. A minimum of 2 years of experience in functional safety or systems engineering, preferably within an OEM or Tier-1 ADAS program, is required. Proficiency in safety analysis techniques such as Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is essential. Hands-on experience with ISO 26262 standards and familiarity with tools like CANape, CANoe, CANalyzer, and requirements management tools such as Jama, Polarion, or DOORS are also desired.

Applied Intuition offers a competitive salary range for this position, estimated between $110,000 and $250,000 annually.
