Systems Engineer II - Secret Clearance
Rocket Lab's Optical Systems division is seeking a Systems Engineer II to join our team in Chantilly, VA. This role focuses on designing, developing, and testing space-based electro-optical sensors for Department of Defense and Intelligence Community customers. Our mission is to revolutionize space-based payloads with innovative designs for various environments, contributing to responsive and scalable sensing solutions across all orbital domains.
In this position, you will be responsible for designing and integrating space-based optical instruments and payloads for airborne and space platforms. Key tasks include defining and managing technical requirements, ensuring traceability throughout the development process, and preparing technical documentation such as system design descriptions and test plans. You will also lead verification and validation activities to confirm alignment with program and customer requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in systems or aerospace engineering or a related technical discipline, along with an active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance with TS/SCI eligibility. A minimum of 2 years of engineering experience is required, with demonstrable experience in systems engineering focused on developing, testing, and integrating space or airborne instruments. Proficiency in requirements management tools and software development languages is also essential.
