Technical Program Manager, Risk

As a Technical Program Manager in the Risk and Compliance space at Stripe, you will play a pivotal role in driving large-scale technical programs that span across the Risk organization and the company. Your primary responsibility will be to define, strategize, plan, and execute complex programs aimed at mitigating financial and regulatory risks while maintaining an exceptional user experience. This involves collaborating closely with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and other cross-functional partners to scope and drive programs to successful conclusions.

In this role, you will develop and implement program management techniques, frameworks, and key performance indicators to achieve well-defined success criteria. You will be expected to enhance team communication and operational efficiency, significantly boosting productivity. Producing high-quality written proposals, communications, and documentation will be essential, as will leveraging data and acquired knowledge to inform strategic decisions at the engineering leadership level. Creating widely circulated plans to drive consistency, clarity, and alignment across teams is also a key aspect of the position.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or technical program management. Strong analytical skills are crucial, with the ability to digest complex information and make informed recommendations. A proven track record of managing programs throughout all phases of software development, from initiation to launch, is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for building strong relationships with stakeholders, teams, and senior leaders across the organization. The ability to drive process improvements across multiple teams and functions, coupled with experience operating autonomously and leading large-scale efforts across diverse teams and time zones, is highly valued. Preferred qualifications include experience in financial risk and compliance, as well as proficiency in SQL and Python scripting or programming.
