Thermal Engineer, Analysis
Harbinger Motors Inc., an American commercial electric vehicle company, is seeking a Thermal Engineer specializing in analysis to join their Thermal Engineering team in Garden Grove, California. This role focuses on developing thermal simulations to support the design and development of electric motors, batteries, power electronics, and other components for medium-duty trucks. The successful candidate will collaborate with test engineers to validate simulation results and provide feedback to enhance product performance and reliability.
Key responsibilities include developing and documenting thermal simulations for various vehicle components in a 3D simulation environment, assessing thermal performance under both steady-state and transient conditions, and providing performance recommendations to design engineers. The role also involves documenting and post-processing simulation results, developing test plans, supporting the test team in data collection, iterating simulation models to achieve strong correlation, and using simulation tools to identify root causes of issues observed during testing.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent relevant educational credential and have over five years of experience in thermal and/or fluid analysis. Strong proficiency in STAR-CCM+ or similar analysis tools is required, along with the ability to run large simulation models on HPC clusters. Effective communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and experience in testing automotive components are essential. Experience with multi-phase simulations and familiarity with 1D analysis tools are considered advantageous.
