VP of Finance
Duolingo is seeking a Vice President of Finance to join its Senior Leadership Team, overseeing the Financial Planning & Analysis and Strategic Finance functions. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and is pivotal in maintaining financial integrity across the organization. The position is based in New York City with a hybrid work schedule.
The VP of Finance will co-own Duolingo's financial operating cadence, including annual and long-range planning, forecasting, and company-wide business reviews. They will collaborate closely with Investor Relations, Treasury, and Corporate Development, as well as cross-functional teams such as Product, Growth, Marketing, and Operations, to ensure decisions are grounded in sound economic principles and long-term value creation. Additionally, the role involves integrating AI, data science, and automation into finance operations to enhance forecasting accuracy and reporting efficiency.
Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field, along with over 15 years of progressive finance experience in FP&A, Investment Banking, Corporate, or Strategic Finance. At least 5 years of experience leading and managing teams is required, ideally within a consumer technology, SaaS, subscription, or marketplace business. Deep expertise in financial modeling, long-range planning, and capital allocation is essential, as well as exceptional written and verbal communication skills. A strategic and business-minded perspective, coupled with a low-ego, high-EQ leadership style, is highly valued.
