Welder Fabricator II
The Welder Fabricator II position at Rocket Lab Corporation is integral to the fabrication team, focusing on the production of high-quality components for the company's space missions. Rocket Lab is a leading end-to-end space company that provides responsive launch services, complete spacecraft design and manufacturing, and satellite components. The company's Electron rocket has become the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket annually, delivering over 230 satellites to orbit. Currently, Rocket Lab is developing Neutron, a medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle designed for larger constellation deployments.
In this role, the Welder Fabricator II is responsible for executing fabrication tasks such as cutting, welding, machining, painting, and assembling materials and components. The technician will read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate production. Operating and maintaining fabrication machinery and equipment safely and efficiently is a key aspect of the job. Additionally, the role involves performing custom fabrication work tailored to specific project requirements and supporting all aspects of vehicle build, integration, and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) repair and fabrication.
Candidates for this position should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with a technical degree or certification in fabrication or a related field preferred. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment is required. Proficiency in operating fabrication tools and machinery, including CNC machines, welding equipment, saws, manual mills and lathes, and various shop tools such as sanders, cutters, bandsaws, and table saws, is essential. Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
