Accounting Expert - Tax

As a Tax Subject-Matter Expert at xAI, you will leverage your deep tax expertise to support the development of next-generation artificial intelligence systems. Collaborating closely with technical and research teams, you will provide high-quality tax analysis and structured explanations to train AI models in accurately reasoning through complex tax issues. Your contributions will directly influence the interpretive quality and consistency of AI-generated tax conclusions.

In this role, you will evaluate sophisticated tax scenarios, guiding AI systems in interpreting and applying statutory authority, Treasury Regulations, IRS guidance, and judicial precedent. Responsibilities include resolving ambiguous fact patterns, weighing alternative positions, and articulating defensible tax treatments. Additionally, you will use proprietary software to provide input on defined projects, support the delivery of curated data, and assist in improving annotation tools.

Candidates should have over three years of professional experience in taxation, specializing in individual, partnership, or corporate taxation. Essential qualifications include the ability to analyze income tax issues, interpret statutory and regulatory authority, and apply sound professional judgment. Strong written communication skills in English and proficiency in navigating authoritative tax resources are also required. A CPA license in good standing and advanced experience in areas such as corporate tax, partnership tax, or individual tax are preferred.

This fully remote position offers an hourly compensation range of $45 to $100, depending on factors such as experience, skills, education, and geographic location.
