Facilities Operations Technician
As a Facilities Operations Technician at xAI, you will play a pivotal role in operating and maintaining the critical mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems that power our supercomputing data centers. This position is integral to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our infrastructure, directly supporting xAI's mission to advance human scientific discovery through artificial intelligence. You'll be part of a small, highly motivated team that values engineering excellence and hands-on contributions.
Your primary responsibilities will include conducting routine inspections and performing preventive maintenance on MEP systems such as pumps, chillers, cooling towers, and electrical components. You'll be expected to troubleshoot complex issues, execute maintenance and operational procedures, and coordinate system shutdowns when necessary. Additionally, you'll develop and implement energy monitoring metrics and support commissioning efforts by assisting with equipment startup and functional testing.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or have at least two years of hands-on experience in operations or facilities work, preferably within data centers. A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles is essential, along with experience in critical systems documentation and building management systems. Excellent troubleshooting skills, proficiency with PLC-based control systems, and strong communication abilities are also required.
