Data Center Operations Technician

As a Data Center Operations Technician at xAI, you will be responsible for maintaining the health and efficiency of our server and network infrastructure across data centers and global points of presence. This role is critical to ensuring optimal performance and reliability of our AI systems, which are designed to advance humanity's understanding of the universe. You will join a highly motivated team that values engineering excellence and hands-on contributions to our mission.

Your primary responsibilities will include troubleshooting and monitoring servers, diagnosing and repairing issues, and performing rack and stack operations during data center build-outs. You will also maintain network infrastructure by managing equipment swaps, troubleshooting fiber links, and ensuring proper labeling and documentation. Additionally, you will handle inventory management, asset tracking, and coordinate vendor returns for hardware under and out of warranty.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience working with server, storage, compute, and network hardware, as well as experience in troubleshooting and repairing such systems. Strong Linux skills are essential, including navigating directories, manipulating files in the shell, and basic troubleshooting. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in tight quarters. Flexibility to work day and night shifts in a 24/7 facility is also required.
