Applied Math Tutor
As an AI Tutor - Applied Math Specialist at xAI, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission to develop AI systems that accurately understand the universe and aid humanity in its pursuit of knowledge. In this role, you will enhance our AI technologies by providing high-quality inputs, labels, and annotations using specialized software. Collaborating closely with our technical team, you will train models on human interactions, problem-solving, and discussions; refine annotation tools; and select or create challenging applied math problems to boost performance. Tasks may involve gathering or providing data in text, voice, and video formats, including annotations, audio recordings, or video sessions.
Key responsibilities include using proprietary software applications to provide input and labels on defined projects, supporting the delivery of high-quality curated data, contributing to the training of new tasks, improving the design of efficient annotation tools, and selecting problems from applied math domains such as probability, statistics, numerical analysis, optimization, operations research, dynamical systems, and data modeling. You will also interpret, analyze, and execute tasks based on given instructions.
The ideal candidate will have either a Master's or PhD in Mathematics with a specialization in a subdomain of applied mathematics, or a medal in an International Math Olympiad (IMO) or similar level math competition. Proficiency in reading and writing both informal and professional English, strong ability to navigate various information resources and databases, outstanding communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational capabilities, solid reading comprehension skills, and a strong passion for technological advancements and innovation are essential. Preferred qualifications include a Math PhD with a specialization in a subdomain of applied mathematics, peer-reviewed applied math publications in well-regarded journals, and previous AI tutoring experience or experience teaching college courses.
This position offers an hourly compensation ranging from $45 to $75, depending on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, geographic location, and qualifications.
