As a Biology Specialist at xAI, you will play a crucial role in advancing our AI technologies by providing high-quality input and labels using specialized software. Collaborating closely with our technical team, you will support the training of new AI tasks and contribute to innovative initiatives. Your responsibilities will include refining annotation tools and selecting complex problems from advanced biological fields to drive significant improvements in model performance. This role involves gathering or providing data in text, voice, and video formats, including annotations, audio recordings, or video sessions.
Key responsibilities include using proprietary software applications to provide input and labels on defined projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality curated data, and contributing to the training of new tasks in collaboration with technical staff. You will also interact with the technical team to improve the design of efficient annotation tools and solve problems that drive innovation in life sciences by guiding AI models to enhance research in specialized areas. Additionally, you will choose problems from various biological fields that align with your expertise, providing detailed solutions and evaluating model responses.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s or PhD in a biology-related field and expertise in one or more areas such as Genetics, Genomics, Developmental Biology, Systems Biology, Physiology and Anatomy, Evolution, Microbiology, Plant Biology, Zoology and Animal Biology, Marine Biology and Oceanography, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, Pharmacology, Toxicology, or Drug Discovery. Proficiency in reading and writing in both informal and professional English is essential, along with a strong ability to navigate various information resources and databases. Outstanding communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills are required, as well as solid reading comprehension and the capacity to exercise autonomous judgment even when presented with limited data or material. A strong passion for and commitment to technological advancements and innovation is also important.
Compensation for U.S.-based candidates ranges from $45 to $75 per hour, depending on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, geographic location, and qualifications.
