Business Development Representative
The Business Development Representative (Strategic Growth Partner) at Compass plays a pivotal role within the Strategic Growth team, which serves as the company's primary driver for market expansion. This position is fully on-site at the Chicago, IL office and focuses on educating the Compass Agent Community about the significance of contributing to the company's strategic growth. The role involves partnering with Compass Agents to identify prospective agents who would benefit from an introduction to a Strategic Growth Manager, thereby facilitating discussions about Compass's value proposition, including technology, marketing, culture, and growth opportunities.
Key responsibilities include generating new business opportunities to build the sales pipeline through both inbound and outbound efforts. This involves direct outreach to prospective agents via cold calls, texts, emails, integrated marketing campaigns, and LinkedIn campaigns. The representative will articulate Compass's value proposition, handle objections to create qualified opportunities, and work closely with Strategic Growth Managers and Team Leaders to develop successful prospecting strategies. Additionally, the role requires meticulous documentation of all activities within the CRM system, maintaining flawless data management, and driving active engagement with new and existing leads through creative follow-up communications.
Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree with at least two years of relevant experience, demonstrating a history of strong performance in roles such as Sales Development Representative, Customer Success/Service, Direct Sales, or Account Management. Strong interpersonal and rapport-building skills, a positive attitude, and natural leadership qualities are essential. The role demands a self-starter attitude, the ability to exercise judgment and solve complex problems without direct supervision, and comfort with ambiguity. Excellent communication skills, the ability to effectively lead client meetings and presentations, and a high level of organization to handle multiple deadlines simultaneously are also required.
The base pay range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000 annually, with the possibility of bonuses and restricted stock units as part of the compensation package.
