Chief of Staff (to the SVP of Engineering)
As the Chief of Staff to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Engineering at SmartRecruiters, you will serve as a strategic partner and operational leader within the engineering organization. SmartRecruiters, an SAP company, is a global leader in AI-powered hiring platforms, serving over 4,000 companies, including Amazon, Visa, and McDonald's. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between business, product, and engineering strategies, ensuring seamless execution across the enterprise.
In this position, you will oversee strategic planning and goal alignment by supporting the creation of engineering strategies, translating them into actionable workstreams, and managing the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework. You will facilitate the engineering leadership's operating cadence, lead weekly status meetings, capture critical decisions, and manage quarterly business reviews. Additionally, you will distill complex technical work into clear executive briefs and prepare the SVP for high-level meetings. Financial stewardship responsibilities include partnering with the CFO and Chief People Officer to secure budgets, support capacity planning, and track business impact metrics. You will also lead cross-functional initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions due diligence and organizational restructurings.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in engineering operations, technical program management, management consulting, or engineering leadership within a high-growth technology company. Strong systems and architectural literacy, demonstrated success in implementing organizational goal-setting frameworks, and a track record of partnering with finance and people teams are essential. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to lead through influence without direct authority are also required.
