Privacy/AI Counsel - 12 month contract

SmartRecruiters, an SAP company, is seeking a Privacy/AI Counsel for a 12-month contract to join our legal team. As a leader in AI-powered hiring platforms, we serve over 4,000 companies, including Amazon, Visa, and McDonald's. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with enterprise customers, data privacy institutions, and internal teams to navigate the evolving landscape of AI and data privacy.

The Privacy/AI Counsel will serve as a strategic legal advisor, providing expertise on global privacy and security matters, including the EU AI Act and GDPR. Responsibilities include developing internal and external privacy and AI collateral to support the Sales organization, ensuring compliance with data protection standards post-acquisition by SAP, and embedding privacy-by-design principles into product development. The role also involves managing data subject rights requests, overseeing cookie consent across platforms, and leading data protection impact assessments.

Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of in-house experience in AI, data security, data privacy, and data protection, preferably within a SaaS environment. A deep understanding of GDPR, European data protection laws, and the EU AI Act is essential. Familiarity with data privacy legislation in other jurisdictions, such as the US, Canada, China, and Australia, is advantageous. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional skills in translating complex legal concepts into actionable business insights for diverse stakeholders.
