Senior AI Engineer
SmartRecruiters is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join our Chat Group, focusing on developing intelligent conversational systems for the recruiting industry. Our mission is to enhance the efficiency of recruiting and hiring teams by delivering personalized experiences powered by advanced machine learning, natural language processing, and agentic AI technologies. As part of a global team spanning Germany, Poland, the UK, and the US, you'll contribute to shaping the future of AI-driven recruiting assistants.
In this role, you will architect and build agentic workflows that integrate large language models, reasoning components, and data pipelines to create adaptive, goal-driven conversational systems. You'll lead the design and development of advanced ML/NLP products from ideation to production, including model training, evaluation, optimization, and deployment. Collaborating closely with product and engineering teams, you'll integrate intelligent agents into real-world recruiting workflows and drive experimentation with new approaches for agentic reasoning and autonomous system design.
The ideal candidate holds a BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, NLP, or a related technical field, or possesses equivalent practical experience. You should have over 5 years of experience developing and deploying machine learning systems in production, with proven expertise in NLP techniques, LLM fine-tuning, and model evaluation. Strong proficiency with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, advanced Python programming skills, and solid software engineering fundamentals are essential. Experience with agentic workflows, autonomous AI systems, chatbots, conversational AI, or multi-agent systems is highly desirable.
