Criminal Defense Legal Assistant

The United Firm | La Liga Defensora, APC is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our Los Angeles office. This role is integral to our legal team, contributing to our commitment to excellence in criminal defense services. The Legal Assistant will report directly to the Department Supervisor and collaborate closely with attorneys and staff to ensure efficient case management and client support.

Key responsibilities include maintaining prompt communication with clients, managing attorney schedules, and preparing legal documents for trial. The Legal Assistant will also handle daily court calendars, request discovery from prosecuting offices, and assist with motion drafting. Additional duties involve preparing and managing subpoenas, entering revocation petitions, and coordinating appointments for defense attorneys with prosecutors and clients.

Candidates must have at least two years of experience in criminal defense, be bilingual in English and Spanish, and possess prior experience as a paralegal or in a related legal field. Proficiency with case management software and experience with federal criminal matters are also required.
