Data Protection Officer
The Data Privacy & Protection Officer at Moniepoint will play a pivotal role within the Compliance Team, ensuring the organization's adherence to the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and other pertinent data privacy regulations. Moniepoint is Africa’s all-in-one financial ecosystem, empowering businesses and their customers with seamless payment, banking, credit, and management tools. In 2023, the company processed $182 billion, solidifying its position as Nigeria’s largest merchant acquirer.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing data privacy policies, maintaining the Record of Processing Activities (RoPA), and overseeing compliance audits. The officer will manage data subject rights requests, conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and facilitate risk mitigation strategies. Additionally, the role involves executing privacy awareness campaigns, overseeing third-party data processor due diligence, and managing data breach responses in line with regulatory requirements.
Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Law, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, along with 4–6 years of experience in data protection, information governance, compliance, or cybersecurity, preferably within financial services. Professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CDPO, or CIPM are advantageous. A strong understanding of the NDPA 2023, NDPC Regulations, CBN IT Standards, and global data protection frameworks like GDPR is essential. The role requires excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
