Director of Artificial Intelligence
Axon is seeking a Director of Artificial Intelligence to lead machine learning platform initiatives within the Dedrone Leadership team. This role involves harnessing Dedrone's extensive network of sensors and data to deliver impactful outcomes for public safety clients. The Director will report directly to the Vice President of Engineering for Dedrone and play a pivotal role in advancing Axon's mission to protect life.
The Director will be responsible for identifying strategic opportunities and building a world-class team of machine learning platform engineers. Key responsibilities include developing distributed machine learning training workflows, edge AI solutions, and data engineering tools for both cloud and on-device applications. Collaboration with science, technology, and product teams is essential to design and implement data ingestion systems and model training pipelines, ensuring continuous performance improvement.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field, along with over 10 years of software engineering experience. A minimum of 6 years in a leadership role managing engineering teams is required. Proficiency in Scala or Java, experience with machine learning workflows in Python, and a strong background in building scalable, high-throughput machine learning pipelines are essential. Advanced knowledge of major cloud environments and exemplary problem-solving skills are also necessary.
Axon offers a competitive salary range of $204,000 to $326,400 USD, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
