As a Senior Principal/Staff Software Engineer at Axon, you will be instrumental in advancing our mission to Protect Life by developing innovative solutions for public safety. This role is based in our Seattle office and follows a hybrid schedule, emphasizing in-person collaboration from Tuesday through Friday, with remote work on Mondays. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and other engineering groups, to align technical initiatives with business objectives.

Your primary responsibilities will include setting and refining technical direction, providing architectural guidance to technical leaders, and facilitating the technology lifecycle and strategic roadmap. You will evaluate and improve existing systems and procedures, ensuring they meet high standards of quality and efficiency. Additionally, you will advise the Vice President on technical matters and strategic direction, offering expert insights to drive the organization's success.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in driving the architecture for large-scale, cloud-based products with high availability, low latency, and high reliability. Proficiency with multiple data storage systems, such as RDBMS and Cassandra, and experience with cloud-based architectures are essential. Strong leadership skills, a culture of engineering excellence, and a customer-focused approach are critical. Experience in mentoring and growing other staff engineers is also highly valued.

The base pay range for this position is $190,500 to $304,800 USD, with total compensation comprising base pay, bonus, and stock awards.
