Director of Communications
Garner Health is seeking an exceptional Director of Communications to join its Marketing team, reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer. This pivotal role involves developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy to enhance brand awareness and define the company's presence among the general public and key stakeholders. The position is based in New York City, with an expectation of working in the office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).
The Director of Communications will be responsible for leading corporate reputation efforts, including media relations, crisis management, and positioning executive leadership as industry thought leaders. Key duties include crafting compelling narratives targeting audiences such as employers, benefits brokers, health plans, healthcare providers, and potential talent. Additionally, the role involves defining and tracking key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of communication channels and partnering with internal teams to oversee internal communications and support investor relations.
Candidates should have over eight years of experience in corporate communications or public relations, with at least four years in a senior leadership role within the healthcare or software sectors. A proven track record of managing complex communications during periods of high growth or rapid change is essential. The ideal candidate will possess established relationships with Tier-1 business, technology, and healthcare trade journalists and influencers, a deep understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, and the ability to translate complex healthcare data into accessible stories.
The base salary range for this position is $230,000 to $260,000, with individual compensation depending on qualifications and skills. In addition to base compensation, the role is eligible to participate in equity incentives and competitive benefits plans, including flexible PTO, medical/dental/vision plan options, 401(k) with company match, flexible spending accounts, and Teladoc Health services.
