Director of Development, Central
The Director of Development, Central at Aypa Power will lead the development of utility-scale stand-alone energy storage projects from market assessment through financial close within the Central region, encompassing MISO, SPP-East, ERCOT, and SERC. This role involves serving as the primary representative to landowners, local officials, and community members, conducting outreach to foster positive relationships and drive successful project outcomes.
Key responsibilities include navigating federal, state, and local permitting processes to secure necessary approvals, providing strategic guidance on market opportunities, evaluating project viability using GIS tools, negotiating land contracts, organizing environmental studies, and coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure projects remain on schedule. The Director will also track project status, manage risks, and prepare budgets and reports.
Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in a related field, with a graduate degree being a strong plus. A minimum of eight years of experience in utility-scale project development is required. The role demands high initiative, strong project management skills, the ability to manage multiple large teams, and proficiency in assessing and resolving project risks. Knowledge of electric markets within the Central region and experience with MS Office are also essential.
