Aypa Power is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to lead commissioning efforts across its portfolio of utility-scale energy storage and hybrid renewable projects. This role involves overseeing all commissioning activities, including reviewing test results, coordinating with contractors and vendors, and facilitating the transition of projects from execution to operations. The position offers the flexibility of remote work within the United States or the option to be based in the Greater Austin, TX area.

Key responsibilities include performing early-stage engineering for utility-scale energy storage projects, reviewing project design drawings from EPC contractors and vendors, and participating in regular calls with these partners. The role also involves engaging with third-party engineers for EPC and balance of plant design, collaborating with procurement and pre-construction teams to validate technical exhibits in contracts, and managing engineering tasks during construction. Additionally, the manager will support commissioning efforts for BESS, Solar PV, and hybrid projects, coordinate testing between project contractors and utilities, and develop in-house tools for standardization.

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university and have 6 to 8 years of experience in project engineering of utility-scale BESS, PV, and hybrid projects. A strong foundation in electrical engineering, with the ability to self-perform varied scopes of work, is essential. Applicants should have a solid understanding of BESS and PV project design, commissioning procedures, and processes, as well as familiarity with general electrical and substation commissioning procedures. Knowledge of grid operator design and commissioning requirements, such as those from ERCOT and CAISO, and various BESS and PV technologies is also required. Strong time management and prioritization skills are necessary to manage multiple projects and engineering team initiatives effectively.

Aypa Power offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary commensurate with experience and an annual bonus based on individual performance and overall business success. The benefits package includes excellent health care, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, unlimited vacation, and other health and wellness benefits. The role requires occasional travel (less than 15%) to project sites during critical commissioning phases.

Joining Aypa Power means becoming part of a team dedicated to responsibly decarbonizing the grid and making North American energy markets more affordable, sustainable, and efficient. The company values diversity and inclusivity, actively seeking to advance fair and inclusive practices in all aspects of its operations. Employees are encouraged to bring unique perspectives and experiences, contributing to a collaborative and forward-thinking work environment.
