Director, Product Finance
The Director of Product Finance at Axon will collaborate across the finance organization and with key business leaders to drive process improvement, strategic decisions, and enhance Axon's forecasting and analysis capabilities. This role supports a fast-paced and dynamic business team dedicated to solving the most challenging problems for customers. Key responsibilities include applying business and financial acumen to support various levels of operational and financial decision-makers with data, analysis, metrics, process creation/improvement, and operating model alignment. The role involves supporting product roadmap prioritization based on profit contribution and engineering resource constraints in close partnership with engineering and product leads. Additionally, the position requires modeling new product design iterations and developing business cases for new products and features based on product-market fit and expected cost reduction. Regular cost reduction, headcount, and budget reviews are essential to ensure alignment with the company plan and product strategy. The Director will also support the corporate forecasting process for R&D/product spend and present results to R&D leaders, participating in corporate FP&A meetings such as executive corporate forecast reviews and budget vs. actuals reviews. Furthermore, the role involves supporting the company-wide Strategic Portfolio Planning Process by assisting in the creation of investment business cases for new products and strategic initiatives, collaborating cross-functionally with full P&L exposure. The position also supports product teams in their holistic analysis of market and P&L performance for key product segments, contributing with data, KPIs, and analysis.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Financial Accounting and a minimum of 7 years of experience in financial modeling, forecasting, and business analytics in a dynamic environment, supporting both financial and operational decision-makers. A proven track record of owning projects and driving their completion cross-functionally is essential. Experience in driving process improvements focused on quality, timeliness, and improved efficiency is required. The ability to work independently with concern for quality and deadlines is crucial. Proficiency in data analysis and dynamic scenario modeling, with an emphasis on researching and validating modeling inputs and assumptions to ensure their alignment with operational models and strategic goals, is necessary. Experience in the technology/software/SaaS industry and manufacturing is preferred. Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills are required for frequent interaction with financial and non-financial business leaders. Superb attention to detail, strong planning and organization skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are essential. A self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit is highly valued.
