Director, Regulatory & Compliance
Garner Health is seeking a Director of Regulatory & Compliance to lead the development and execution of its Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) strategy. This role reports directly to the General Counsel and serves as the primary expert on regulatory frameworks affecting Garner's products, including ERISA, HIPAA, IRS regulations, state-level TPA, privacy, and insurance laws. The Director will implement and refine a proactive compliance infrastructure to support the company's rapid growth and evolving risk profile.
Key responsibilities include building and managing a scalable GRC framework to oversee regulatory risks, obligations, and internal policies. The Director will act as the main point of contact for the Revenue, Marketing, and other teams, addressing daily regulatory and compliance-related inquiries. Additionally, the role involves managing ongoing compliance obligations, such as license applications, renewals, and other required regulatory filings. Collaborating with the Product Team, the Director will ensure new product initiatives and modifications comply with applicable regulations. The position also entails developing protocols for internal and external investigations, risk assessments, and incident response preparation, as well as providing general legal support as needed.
The ideal candidate will have over seven years of experience in regulatory and compliance roles, with practical knowledge of key regulatory regimes relevant to Garner. A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a U.S. law school and admission to a state bar are required. Proven experience in establishing compliance programs from the ground up in high-growth or startup environments is essential. The candidate should demonstrate a proactive approach, willingness to take initiative, and a commitment to the company's success. Experience in rapidly evolving startup settings and a desire to contribute to improving the U.S. healthcare system are highly desirable.
The base salary for this position ranges from $240,000 to $270,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
