Economist, Economics & Research Group
Compass is seeking an Economist to join its Economics & Research Group within the Data & Analytics organization. This role focuses on analyzing and communicating macroeconomic trends affecting housing markets nationwide. The Economist will collaborate closely with the Chief Economist and the data and analytics team to produce research and insights that inform agents, consumers, and the media.
Key responsibilities include monitoring and synthesizing macroeconomic indicators such as Federal Reserve policies, labor markets, consumer sentiment, inflation, and interest rates, and translating their implications for residential real estate markets. The Economist will produce regional and local market analyses, contribute research on topics like luxury market dynamics and the impact of AI on housing demand, and develop data visualizations and presentations for various stakeholders.
The ideal candidate holds a graduate degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Real Estate, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. They should possess a strong understanding of macroeconomics, housing markets, mortgage finance, and Federal Reserve policies. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to explain complex economic concepts to non-expert audiences. Experience in producing charts and graphics for research or media, familiarity with tools like Flourish or Datawrapper, and a background in real estate economics or related fields are preferred.
The base salary for this position ranges from $162,500 to $180,500 annually, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional compensation may include bonuses and restricted stock units.
