Electrical Engineer
As an Electrical Engineer at Axon, you will be a key contributor to the Axon Robotics team, focusing on the design and prototyping of electronic boards and systems for mission-critical robots, including UAVs and UGVs. This role is integral to Axon's mission to Protect Life by developing next-generation drones and robots aimed at reducing gun-related deaths between police and the public by 50% in 10 years.
Your primary responsibilities will include participating in the research and development of new products, designing schematics and PCBs, testing and verifying prototypes, and assisting firmware and software engineering teams during board bring-up. Additionally, you will design and build custom test systems to measure the performance of electronic systems, test and measure boards and components such as batteries and motors, and support manufacturing by addressing component obsolescence or unavailability.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, along with over 5 years of experience in designing densely populated, tightly packaged, battery-powered embedded systems. Proficiency in using test equipment like digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers is essential, as well as excellent hands-on skills for assembling board prototypes. A strong foundation in both analog and digital electronics, experience with multi-layer PCB layouts and rigid-flex designs, and knowledge of EDA tools such as Altium Designer or Cadence OrCAD are required. Familiarity with C and Python programming languages for test firmware development is also beneficial.
