Electrical Engineer II, RF Test Engineer
Axon is seeking an Electrical Engineer II specializing in RF testing to join our team in Scottsdale, Arizona. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the wireless technologies in our advanced products meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and compliance. Your expertise will contribute to the development of cutting-edge body-worn cameras, vehicular systems, and connected devices that serve law enforcement and public safety professionals.
As an RF Test Engineer, you will design and implement test plans to evaluate the performance of wirelessly connected devices, ensuring they meet stringent product and regulatory requirements. You will record RF test data, organize results, and present findings to cross-functional teams to facilitate swift resolution of design challenges. Your responsibilities will also include evaluating RF performance characteristics such as Total Radiated Power (TRP) and Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS) for cellular-enabled wireless devices using advanced equipment. Additionally, you will support product field evaluations to validate RF performance under diverse real-world conditions and assist in regulatory pre-certification and formal certification test efforts.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of three years of hands-on RF and wireless device testing experience. A solid understanding of basic RF principles and theory is essential, as well as experience with modern RF technologies including multiband Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular (LTE, 5G FR1), and multi-constellation GNSS. Proficiency with RF equipment such as RF communication testers, network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers is required. Strong documentation and communication skills are also necessary to effectively report test procedures and results to the design team.
