Engineering Manager, Data Systems

KoBold Metals is seeking an Engineering Manager for its Data Systems Engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development of robust data systems that enhance mineral exploration efforts. Collaborating with data scientists and geologists, you will contribute to the discovery of essential energy transition metals such as lithium, copper, nickel, and cobalt.

As the Engineering Manager, you will build and lead a high-performing software engineering team. Your responsibilities include planning, prioritizing, and delivering impactful projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Additionally, you will work with the Head of Data Systems Engineering to advance both the technical product and organizational strategy. Approximately one-third of your time will be dedicated to contributing as an individual contributor.

The ideal candidate has over 8 years of experience in building production software systems and at least 3 years in an engineering leadership role. Proficiency in developing distributed cloud data systems and a deep understanding of various database and data storage technologies are essential. A background in natural sciences, either through formal education or job exposure, is also required.
