Senior Software Engineer, United Kingdom

KoBold Metals is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Data Systems Engineering team in the United Kingdom. As a leader in AI-driven mineral exploration, KoBold integrates advanced technology with geological expertise to discover essential metals for the energy transition. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely within the UK, collaborating closely with geologists and data scientists to enhance our exploration capabilities.

In this position, you will engage directly with exploration geologists and data scientists to understand their needs and develop tailored technological solutions. Your primary responsibilities will include building data pipelines and tools to derive advanced insights from exploration data, leading small teams of software engineers to successful project delivery, and taking end-to-end ownership of projects from design through implementation and testing. Additionally, you will manage the operational aspects of our services and assist scientific colleagues with our tooling.

The ideal candidate will have over four years of software engineering experience, particularly in building production cloud data systems. Proficiency in Python is essential, along with the ability to write production-quality code that is correct, readable, well-tested, scalable, and extensible. Experience in large-scale system design and a proven track record of taking ownership of projects with demonstrated impact are also required. A strong intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn about mineral exploration, especially in the geology domain, are highly valued.

KoBold Metals offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 to $210,000 USD for this full-time, remote position. Candidates can be located anywhere in the United Kingdom.
