As an Engineering Manager on the Connected Devices team at Axon, you will lead a high-impact software engineering team responsible for developing embedded software for devices such as body-worn cameras, in-car cameras, and wireless microphones. Your role is pivotal in ensuring that critical evidence is captured during mission-essential moments for our customers. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with talented software and firmware engineers to create next-generation public safety products.

Your key responsibilities will include leading and growing a high-performing team that designs and develops embedded applications and network configurations for Axon's current and future products. You will manage the team with empathy, providing clear career growth paths for engineers. Additionally, you will collaborate and communicate effectively with global teams throughout the product development lifecycle to drive timely new feature and product launches. Instilling a culture of continuous process improvement and adoption of metrics within the team is also a crucial aspect of this role.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience leading teams with empathy, objectivity, and a mentorship mindset, along with at least 10 years of experience in real-world embedded engineering projects that have gone to market. Experience in implementing engineering processes that emphasize quality, security, maintainability, extensibility, and operational discipline is essential. Proficiency in professional software development using languages such as C/C++, Go, Rust, Python, or other systems programming languages, as well as experience in writing unit, integration, and system-level tests, is required. Networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and tunneling to support diverse network configurations, is considered a plus.

The starting base pay for this role ranges from $150,000 to $240,000, depending on various factors such as level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and geographic market.
