Facilities Maintenance Technician
As a Facilities Maintenance Technician at xAI's Memphis location, you will be responsible for performing routine non-critical maintenance tasks and supporting operations on critical systems under supervision. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth functioning of our data center infrastructure, directly contributing to xAI's mission of advancing artificial intelligence systems.
Key responsibilities include conducting non-critical maintenance and repair work such as door repairs, administrative area upkeep, building envelope maintenance, and landscaping. Under direct supervision, you will assist in operating critical equipment and perform limited maintenance on offline critical systems, including chiller maintenance, CDU filter changes, and leak detection verification in alarming racks. Daily inspections of facility areas to ensure performance standards and proactive reporting of issues are also essential duties.
The ideal candidate will have over two years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field, with a preference for data center experience. A solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems is required, along with proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment. Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to manage time and priorities effectively are essential.
Preferred qualifications include an associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience, such as HVAC, electrical, or mechanical certification. Experience with building management systems (BMS) or environmental monitoring tools, EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (EPA 608 Technician), and familiarity with preventive maintenance scheduling are advantageous.
