Incident Commander, Program Manager
Block's Critical Incident Management Team (CIMT) is integral to safeguarding the company's operations, customers, and regulatory compliance during significant business incidents. As Block continues to expand, the need for enhanced incident command capabilities has led to the creation of the Incident Commander, Program Manager role. This position is central to ensuring swift, coordinated, and effective responses to high-impact events within Block's ecosystem.
In this role, the Incident Commander will lead high-severity incidents, including fraud events, customer-impacting issues, regulatory matters, and escalated incidents. Responsibilities encompass directing real-time responses, coordinating among cross-functional teams such as Legal, Compliance, Engineering, Product, and Customer Success, and maintaining accountability for incident escalation, containment, remediation, and resolution. Additionally, the role involves documenting detailed incident timelines, overseeing the preparation of final incident reports, managing internal communication channels, and facilitating post-incident reviews to enhance preparedness and response strategies.
Candidates should possess over seven years of proven experience in incident management, crisis response, or related roles within high-stakes operational environments. A minimum of five years in project management, particularly under time-sensitive and high-pressure conditions, is also required. An understanding of regulatory and compliance considerations in the financial services or technology sectors is essential. The compensation for this role varies based on location, with Zone A ranging from $163,600 to $245,400 USD annually.
