Infrastructure Engineer
As an Infrastructure Engineer at LaunchDarkly, you will be a key member of the Infrastructure Development and Engineering (IDE) team, responsible for building, automating, and enhancing the systems that support our large-scale platform. LaunchDarkly empowers teams to deliver and control software efficiently, serving over twenty trillion feature flags daily across a global AWS infrastructure. The IDE team manages the core infrastructure components, including networking, compute resources, CI/CD pipelines, databases, and observability tools, with a focus on creating self-service and automated solutions.
In this role, your primary responsibilities will include automating infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and operational workflows to streamline processes. You will develop and improve internal tools and platforms that enhance the productivity of other engineers. Managing and evolving our AWS infrastructure using Terraform will be a key aspect of your work. Additionally, you will participate in on-call rotations, addressing incidents and implementing permanent fixes to improve system reliability. Collaborating with product engineering teams to understand and address their infrastructure needs, as well as identifying and automating repetitive operational tasks, will also be essential.
The ideal candidate will have over four years of professional software engineering experience and familiarity with AWS services. Proficiency in writing code to solve complex problems, beyond mere configuration, is crucial. A curiosity about system operations and a willingness to quickly learn new tools are important traits. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as is a commitment to maintaining high standards when working with production systems. Valuing code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices is also expected.
Compensation for this position varies based on geographic location. For Zone 1 (San Francisco/Bay Area, NYC Metropolitan Area, Boston, Seattle), the salary range is $191,800 to $263,670. In Zone 2 (Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago), the range is $172,600 to $237,270. For all other U.S. locations (Zone 3), the range is $163,000 to $224,070. Additional benefits include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, and dental insurance, and mental health support.
