Investment Lead
Beacon Software is seeking an Investment Lead to join our team in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As a profitable Series B+ permanent capital holding company, we acquire and grow essential businesses by combining the expertise of technologists, operators, and M&A professionals. Our support comes from top-tier venture capital, crossover, and endowment investors, as well as founders of leading technology companies from the past decade.
In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of mergers and acquisitions. Your primary focus will be on underwriting and execution, encompassing financial analysis, valuation modeling, and comprehensive due diligence across financial, sales, marketing, and operational domains. Additionally, you will lead and manage relationships with business owners, advisors, and bankers, and collaborate with internal teams to craft integration strategies and oversee the finance and operations of newly acquired businesses.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background in Business or Finance from a competitive institution, coupled with 1-6 years of M&A experience in private equity, investment banking, consulting, corporate development, or the software industry. A deep understanding of technology and a passion for the software sector are essential. Proficiency in building financial models, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines are also required.
At Beacon Software, we offer a unique work environment that blends the dynamics of a high-growth technology startup with the stability of a long-term buy-and-hold private equity firm. You will have the opportunity to learn directly from entrepreneurs who have scaled businesses from seed to $10B+ IPOs, work alongside Silicon Valley product and engineering teams, and receive dedicated mentorship to support your professional development.
Our core values include humility, honesty, hunger, and a long-term horizon. We believe in acknowledging our mistakes, seeking new ideas, building trust through integrity, maintaining high standards, and focusing on long-term growth to build a generational software company.
