The Maintenance Engineer II at Axon plays a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of automated manufacturing equipment, including robots, PLC-controlled machines, conveyors, vision systems, and material handling equipment. This position is integral to Axon's mission of protecting life by maintaining the seamless operation of its production systems. The role is based onsite at Axon's facilities in Phoenix and Mesa, Arizona, and reports to the Senior Manager of Manufacturing Engineering - Assets Reliability.

Key responsibilities include leading root cause analyses for recurring equipment failures and downtime events, developing and implementing corrective actions to enhance mean time between failures (MTBF), and designing preventive and predictive maintenance programs aligned with equipment criticality. The engineer will also analyze maintenance data to refine maintenance intervals, create and update maintenance procedures, and standardize practices across production lines. Additionally, the role involves supporting spare parts strategy and inventory optimization.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field, with 3–6 years of experience in maintenance, reliability, or automation engineering within a manufacturing environment. A strong understanding of automated equipment, electrical systems, and mechanical components is essential, along with experience in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. The ability to work effectively in fast-paced, production-driven environments is also crucial.
