Member of Technical Staff - Grok Main Model
As a Member of Technical Staff on the Grok Main Model team at xAI, you will be instrumental in developing the foundational models that power Grok's chat capabilities. This role focuses on advancing reasoning-first functionalities, transitioning from basic question-answering to versatile, reliable intelligence applicable across various domains such as engineering, law, and medicine. xAI is a mission-driven company dedicated to creating AI systems that accurately understand the universe and aid humanity in its pursuit of knowledge.
In this position, your primary responsibilities will include innovating frameworks for large-scale model experimentation to rapidly push the frontiers of reasoning and utility. You will collaborate closely with product and infrastructure teams to integrate advanced models into seamless chat systems. Additionally, you will develop and optimize scalable inference and training pipelines to ensure production reliability at a massive scale, and build data infrastructure to leverage real-time signals and datasets for continuous model improvement. Owning end-to-end initiatives from research ideation to deployment will be a key aspect of your role, ensuring that models deliver dependable, transformative value.
The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter passionate about AI's potential to amplify humanity and understand the universe. Expertise in Python or Rust, with deep experience in scalable AI systems and large-scale data handling, is essential. A proven track record in building experimentation frameworks or infrastructure for frontier language models at consumer scale is highly valued. Strong fundamentals, demonstrated by shipping high-performance, reliable AI-powered features, are required. The compensation for this role ranges from $180,000 to $440,000 USD annually.
