Member of Technical Staff - Internal Tools
xAI is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our Internal Tools team, focusing on developing and enhancing mission-critical platforms that accelerate our frontier research. As a key member of our small, highly motivated team, you will contribute directly to our mission of creating AI systems that accurately understand the universe and aid humanity in its pursuit of knowledge.
In this role, you will own and elevate two essential platforms: Starfleet, our Human Data Collection Platform, and Toolbox, our unified Research Platform for model training orchestration, evaluations, benchmarking, and experiment management. Your primary responsibility will be to design and build delightful, performant, and scalable user interfaces that researchers and engineers rely on daily. This position demands deep frontend expertise along with the ability to write production-grade backend code.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent prioritization skills, outstanding communication abilities, and strong expertise in React (preferably TypeScript) and the modern frontend ecosystem. Proven experience in writing clean, production backend code in Node.js/TypeScript or Python is essential. Additionally, experience in building large-scale, data-heavy web applications with excellent performance, a strong product intuition, and an ownership mindset are highly valued. A keen eye for design details that enhance overall product quality is also important.
The base salary for this role ranges from $180,000 to $440,000 USD.
