The Member of Technical Staff - Observability role at xAI involves joining a dedicated team responsible for building and maintaining the company's observability platform. The role involves building high-performance telemetry pipelines capable of handling massive ingestion volumes and developing APIs, query engines, and user interfaces that provide real-time insights into system performance. Additionally, the position requires defining and enforcing best practices for instrumentation, alerting, and reliability across the company, as well as collaborating with infrastructure and product teams to integrate observability into internal platforms.
Candidates should have production-level proficiency in Go, Rust, Scala, or similar languages, along with a deep understanding of distributed systems and telemetry architecture. Experience in building and operating infrastructure at scale is essential. Familiarity with observability stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, VictoriaMetrics, or ClickHouse is required, as well as experience with Kafka, Redis, or large-scale time series databases. Proficiency in operating observability pipelines in Kubernetes or similar orchestration environments is also necessary.
The compensation for this role ranges from $180,000 to $440,000 USD annually.
